An island rich in history
If you want to spend your vacation between swims into the crystal sea and local excursions, Kos will surely amaze you!
Let’s start from the capital: here you can visit an interesting Archaeological Museum, then the 13rd-century Kastro, the fortress of the Knights of Saint John and the well-preserved 18th-century Mosque of Gazi Hassan Pasha.
Another must-see place is the rich archeological site, where you can admire houses, temples, baths and mosaics which date back from different ages.
Asclepion is an obligatory stop, especially for those who love ancient history. Here lies in fact the majestic Temple of the God of medicine, dating back to the IV century BC.
Around Kos, you can find many small villages of great interest. If you want to discover the inland of Kos, I suggest you to rent at an affordable price a scooter, or a bike if you prefer, in one of the numerous rental shops of the island.
The harbour area
It’s ideal for those looking for a bit of liveliness: here are situated bars, restaurants and shops on every corner and, during the summer, “entertainment” until late in the evening.
Nearby, you will find the city beach which is very busy until the early hours of the morning, mainly because it’s reachable within an easy walking distance. A better and less crowded area, is located about 500 metres west from the city centre and it can be reached by bus. Here you can practice various water sports such as windsurfing and paragliding.
The sea and boat trips
The island of Kos is a paradise for those who love the sea and the boat trips.
Thanks to an intense program of daily visits, with approximately 35 € per person, you can reach the beautiful volcanic island of Nisyros or Kalymnos, the capital of divers and sponges. From Kos you can also visit the tiny island of Pserimos which is appreciated by those who practice free climbing. it’s a quiet island inhabited by a dozen families with a lovely beach. In addition, within 20 minutes by boat you can reach Bodrum, a famous locality of the Turkish coast.
As you can see, multiple combinations are possible, even if however, the only important thing to do is to relax and enjoy the sun while navigating.
The beaches
Just outside Kos town, there’s a pebble beach with dozens of bars overlooking the see. Artemis Paradise is one of the most fashionable places where you can taste typical beverages and frozen coconut.
One of the most beautiful beaches of the whole island is Paradise Beach: it’s reachable by bus from the city centre in 45 minutes. Very nice, especially for children thanks to its low seabed, is also Tigaki Beach.
Entertainment and nightlife
And if the day is dedicated to sunbathing, excursions or visits to museums, the night is perfect for having fun!
Thanks to the quantity and quality of clubs that you can find here, the choice belongs only to you! Just go to the port and follow the crowd and the music.
Especially during the high season, the bars of the city are crowed by young and older people looking for fun and relaxation.
For an evening with family or friends, you can choose from a wide variety of restaurants where children are welcomed with special menus. If you don’t have children with you, and you can return to your hotel whatever you want, go to Kardamena where there are numerous bars and clubs open all night long.
Good food and accommodation
The island, being a top holiday destination, offers well-equipped tourist facilities.
Among our best accommodation, we recommend you the Hotel Triton: a delightful 3 star hotel on the waterfront, convenient for reaching the area of the port.
If you want to enjoy a tasty lunch or dinner avoiding the usual tourist menus, we strongly advise you to stay away from crowded restaurants. The capital is wide enough but the best taverns are located in the area of the port where you can eat delicious fresh fish.
Whatever you’re looking for, sea, nightlife, good food, sun, history,.. Kos is the right place!
