Edinburgh International Book Festival: the most famous celebration of the written word!

Save the date: from 9th to 25th of August the famous Edinburgh International Book Festival, the largest public celebration of the written word in the world, will return in the Scottish capital.

A unique event, bringing together the major personalities from the sector in a lively atmosphere, open to dialogue, to knowledge and to the comparison with a long series of events located around the capital both for adults and for children's entertainment.

The numbers speak clearly of the greatness of this forthcoming event:

- More than 800 high-profile personalities from all over the world are awaited at the festival, between authors, writers, graphic artists, economists, journalists, environmentalists, historians, Nobel and Booker prize-winners

- More than 700 events ranging from workshops, discussions with authors, musicians and a lot more aiming not only to stimulate cultural and social debates but also to entertain and amuse the audience.
Since its inception in 1983, the Book Festival's home has been the beautiful and historic Charlotte Square Gardens in Edinburgh (at the west end of George Street, a minute away from Princes Street). Each year these beautiful gardens welcome thousands of visitors, an ideal place to attend a debate or a workshop, or simply to relax taking a good cup of coffee or tea, as well as sipping a beer under the shade of the trees by enjoying the lively atmosphere that reigns at the Book Festival. In addition, the area is equipped with eateries; three cafes offer a wide variety of hot and cold drinks, tasty snacks, delicious desserts and ice creams..
